January Meeting Debrief

This month's meeting, overall, went extremely well. I handed over running different parts of the meeting to parents that were there and they stepped up and did a wonderful job. The group was self-reliant and cohesive.

The Early Bird Activity: the kids weren't really into it, they were distracted and wanted to run around and play. I decided that was just fine with me and skipped it.

The Adventure kids enjoyed working on planning out how to design their beads on their vests. They were busy doing that, while the Starflight group didn't have anything to work on. I actually meant to bring a little sewing activity for them, sewing thread through card stock, but I forgot about it in the rush to get the meeting together.

Starflight started their meeting by reading the Camp Fire Wish and then were shown the helper pockets they were going to make. They went over to their table and started working on them. (Trail to Knowing Me, Family Helper, p. 14)

Adventure took some more time working on their designs on paper before heading over to start their discussion about learning to plan. A parent helper worked with them and they excitedly had many ideas about what activity they could teach the Starflight kids. (Trail to Family & Community, Planning for Success, p. 80)

Then the kids made some forts and ran around Cahito for a while before starting lunch. Everyone enjoyed themselves and each other during the meal.

We forgot to do our closing circle and sing our closing circle song. It completely slipped my mind! Oops!

Thank you everyone!
Alex
